In the Hippocratic Oath I took to become a physician, the phrase "... I will
keep [my patients] from harm and injustice..." remains dear to me; not only
as a Physician, but now as a Member of Congress.

I have devoted my life to keeping my patients healthy and safe, and now I
apply those same principles to my constituents in Georgia's 6th District.
With that said, the Democrats' current plan in the U.S. House is detrimental
to America's well being.

Even the President wouldn't get on board with his own plan. According to ABC
News "Health Care Forum", a doctor in the audience asked the President if he
would pledge not to seek extraordinary help if his wife or kids became sick
and their treatment and tests fell outside of the Public Plan offered. He
refused to make such a pledge...

Under Government-Run HealthCare, Democrats would place Washington in between
you and your physician. And by the sound of it, the President doesn't even
trust his own party to make such decisions on behalf of his family; so why
should you?

As you heard last week from Leader Boehner, the Democratic plan is led by
interest groups rather than physicians, and we must not stand for this!

Our Republican Alternative places an emphasis on two issues:

First -- we agree that we must make healthcare coverage affordable for all
Americans. We are working hard to create a level of coverage that makes
financial sense for all Americans to be insured without government intrusion
or mandates. And we plan on doing this through fundamental reform of the tax
code.

Second -- that coverage should be owned and controlled by those most
affected by the system - patients! By placing the power in the hands of
patients and their doctors, not federal bureaucrats, we will enjoy the
innovation, responsiveness, accountability, and flexibility that would
surely go unseen in the Democratic Plan.

Won't you please join me in educating the public about how dangerous the
passage of this plan really would be? Please take the time to call your
Congressman and encourage him or her to vote 'NO' on the Democrat plan and
not rush into another trillion dollar boondoggle.

I commit to you that I will do my very best to educate my colleagues in
Congress and challenge them to prevent any harm or injustice that would make
your healing more difficult, just as I would want for my patients.

Government-Run Healthcare, let them know about your ideas on how to fix our
healthcare system. I would also encourage you to share your thoughts with
others via a letter to the editor, discussion boards, social networks or

take-over your healthcare, the more likely they are to oppose it - and
support positive changes.

Kansas Congressman Todd Tiahrt is facing criticism for telling the truth.

The congressman's recent comments targeted tax-funded abortions, arguing such services would encourage single moms living below the poverty level to abort their unborn children. Tiahrt then made this supposition: "If you take that scenario and apply it to many of the great minds we have today, who would we have been deprived of? Our president grew up in those similar circumstances. If that financial incentive was in place, is it possible that his mother may have taken advantage of it?"

Some in the liberal press and Congress are demanding an apology from Tiahrt for his comments. Troy Newman of Operation Rescue makes note of the congressman's statement, and offers this supporting explanation:

"The African-American population actually experiences a much higher rate of abortions than white people do," explains the pro-life leader. "And...if taxpayer-funded abortions were available back when Judge Clarence Thomas was conceived, or even Barack Obama was conceived, there's a high probability that they would have been aborted."

A documentary called Maafa 21 documents what many African-American pastors are now calling "genocide" directed at the black population. "The African-American population only makes up 13 percent of the population of America," Newman points out, "but they account for 36 percent of all abortions." In addition, statistics show the abortion rate among black women is five times higher than that for white women.

In a press release, Operation Rescue says Tiahrt's comments "were exactly on point, and actually did not go far enough."

As for the calls for an apology for citing statistics that show black women are disproportionately targeted for abortion? "It is a legitimate question that needs to be asked," says Newman. "[But] the last thing abortion promoters want is dialog on this subject."

Barack Obama is the abortion maverick.

Poor people disproportionately tend to have unplanned pregnancies. Poor people disproportionately feel they do not have the necessary tools to raise children. Poor people also disproportionately tend to be black. Abortions among blacks are merely a symptom of a deeper problem: a lack of economic opportunity and access to education. Why don't we address this by doing things to raise the standard of living among our nation's poorest, such as increased funding for urban schools and need-based college grants? Give them the tools to succeed and you will see the abortion rate fall dramatically, all without going through the trouble of overturning Roe v. Wade.

And your solution for getting single, young, poor, pregnant women out of poverty is what exactly?

They Hate hearing or having the Truth told.

It makes sense to me!!! It's tough for the liberals when the 'truth' gets into their conscious.

The Congressman's comment was wholly inappropriate, and I'm surprised you published an article defending it.

The perverted left do not want a dialog on any subject today, they just "WANT"!!!!!

Abortions worldwide also kill a disproportionate number of females through sex-selective abortions. Approximately half of all women in the US are coerced into abortion, and many post-abortive women report long-term health and emotional problems (even though there were led to believe that abortion is usually safe and harmless). Where is the outrage from our feminists groups about these facts?

If THAT'S a fair question, and it IS, then why is it NOT a fair point to make concerning crime, prostitution, domestic violence, promiscuity, single mother homes, multi-father children, alcoholism, drug usage and distribution, gun violence, absenteeism from school, misbehavior IN school, and murder on the street and in the home in the black community? The numbers of those are way out of proportion to their percentage of the population also. One cannot blame it ALL on their economic condition. It's cultural. It has to be as it is seen in every black community big and small, and most especially in communities predominantly black. That being the case, poverty in the black community must also be cultural, not an economic construction. We only aid and abet black poverty, crime, and moral disintegration by excusing it or rationalizing it.

Those who expose the lies of the ungodly are always targets. They are seen as a threat to their agenda. His comments put the issue in a perspective that no one really wants to deal with. The more the pro-death camp can keep things their "dirty little secret" and a subject not to be discussed then they can hide in the shadows and continue to foster their lies. While entire generations are killed there is funding for education in urban schools! It has been wasted! There is available funding for college, vo-techs and other training facilities. Then they blame those of us who found a way to make it in spite of their failures and the liberals ask for more money to waste. Liberals are creating an environment and enabling people to be victims that know nothing more than to put their hand out and beg! That's not living! It is not the job of the government to provide for the poor. It is the job of the Church. The problem is that government welfare programs provide for physical needs without addressing the root spiritual issues that lead to poverty. If you really care about someone, you don't just write them a check and say, "Vote democratic." This is akin to throwing bones to dogs. The tragic irony is that the poor really think that liberals care for them and so they keep voting them into office and in return, the liberals just throw enough bones to keep the poor alive and voting.

Kudos Congressman. You should have most of your colleagues supporting you on this. Abortion is an elective just like a face-lift. Insurance doesn't cover elective surgery and our tax dollars should not cover abortions period.

Hate Crime Bill Passes

Senate OKs Sweeping 'Hate-Crimes' Legislation

By a voice vote Thursday night, the U.S. Senate approved a sweeping expansion of the federal "hate-crimes" law. The legislation creates a new class of crimes based on the victim's gender, sexual orientation or "gender identity." And, pastors who preach against homosexuality could face prosecution if they are found to have "induced" a hate crime against a self-identified homosexual by preaching from the Bible.

The House passed a similar bill in April, and President Barack Obama supports the legislation.

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said he was very disappointed by the vote.

"It’s just a shame that we’re going to start punishing people based on what they believe or what they think, and that the punishments for different classes of people are going to be different," he said. "I’m hoping we can use some procedural things to slow (the bill) down or stop it."

The Senate approved an amendment from Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., which reiterated that the Constitution protects religious speech.

Thank you for contacting me. Unfortunately, we disagree on this particular issue. As my constituent, you have a right to know my position. Please see my full explanation of this important issue below.

Despite great gains in civil rights protection and equality throughout the last century, many Americans still face

discrimination, violence and even death because of their identity or beliefs. To combat this serious problem, I cosponsored S. 909, the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act. This bill would provide federal assistance to state and local law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute violent hate crimes, especially crimes committed by offenders in multiple states and in rural areas that often have difficulty covering law enforcement expenses. It would have also helped train local law enforcement officers in identifying, investigating, prosecuting and preventing hate crimes.

Existing federal hate crime law does not currently include sexual orientation, gender or disability as protected against violent hate crimes. It only allows federal prosecution of crimes involving bodily injury if they were motivated by the victim's real or perceived race, religion, national origin or color-and if the victim was engaging in a federally-protected activity such as voting or attending school. S. 909 would remove this second requirement and would add sexual orientation, gender and disability to the list of protected categories. This bill does not threaten first amendment rights as it targets violent hate crimes.

COMMON SENSE OBITUARY

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, ‘Common Sense’, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
why the early bird gets the worm;
life isn’t always fair;
and, maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses, and as criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust. His wife, Discretion, his daughter, Responsibility, his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 step-brothers; I Know My Rights; I Want It Now; Someone Else Is To Blame; I’m A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Very soon all of us who uphold traditional values will face a huge battle over the direction of the U.S. Supreme Court. The stakes are high and the winners will decide the kind of country we’ll leave for our children and grandchildren.

You cannot afford to sit this one out.

As you have probably heard, Justice David Souter has resigned from the high court and President Obama will very shortly announce his nominee for the vacancy. Based on what we already know, it will very likely be someone from the far-Left fringes of the law, who would advocate policies that you and I would barely recognize, on such important matters as religious freedom and the role of prayer and worship in society.

But all of that lies just ahead.

For now, I only want to alert you to one of the more amazing bills ever to have been introduced in Congress. It will serve as a valuable primer to help you understand the strong role played by the Christian faith in the foundation of the country. It’s a quick read and its facts cannot be denied.

The bill, called H. Res. (for House Resolution) 397 would, if passed, designate the first week in May as “America’s Spiritual Heritage Week.” It was introduced by Rep. Randy Forbes of Virginia, and timed to coincide with this year’s National Day of Prayer on May 7. Dr. Dobson appeared personally at the press conference in Washington, D.C., to lend his support to the legislation.

It seems that the mainstream media has finally decided to dispense with the pointless denials of favorable coverage of the Obama Administration. Now one network, ABC News, has actually turned its entire programming over to President Obama and his big-government agenda.

On June 24th, ABC News and anchor Charles Gibson will broadcast "World News" from inside the White House, and make Barack Obama's case for nationalized health care for him, without any opportunity for opposing views to be aired.

The liberal special interests have clearly learned from their missteps the last time they tried to force Americans into a socialized health care system -- the abysmal failure of the Clinton Administration's "HillaryCare."

That's why their friends at ABC News will be promoting Obamacare at virtually every opportunity, from "Good Morning America" to "Nightline," and reach from ABC News' websites all the way to the White House's East Room.

God has an opinion of what President Obama has proudly designated as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual Pride Month (June). Read below:

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 ¶ Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

These are pretty harsh words. But it’s not my opinion, it is God’s opinion. From what I read here, God is not pleased when we are proud of sin and President Obama has proudly told the whole world that we as Americans are proud of sin. He is not speaking for me. I hang my head in shame to be called an American that is proud of sin. From what God says, we are on our way to His judgment and wrath. It’s only a matter of time before His patience runs out. I fear for that day.

Obama declares June 'LGBT Pride Month'

In a presidential proclamation on the White House website, Barack Obama has
lauded what he calls "the determination and dedication" of the LGBT movement
by proclaiming June as "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride
Month."

"The LGBT rights movement has achieved great progress," Obama states in the
official proclamation, "but there is more to be done. LGBT youth should feel
safe to learn without the fear of harassment, and LGBT families and seniors
should be allowed to live their lives with dignity and respect."

The proclamation, released on Monday, credits the LGBT movement with being a
factor in more Americans who ascribe to those groups "living their lives
openly today than ever before."

The president also takes pride in being the first U.S. chief executive to
appoint "openly LGBT" candidates to Senate-confirmed positions in the first
100 days of an administration.

He uses the proclamation to emphasize LGBT-related initiatives that he
intends to pursue in the future -- both domestically and internationally.

"I have joined efforts at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexual
around the world," he states. "Here at home, I continue to support measures
to bring the full spectrum of equal rights to LGBT Americans."

Among those measures he lists "hate crimes" laws, civil unions,
discrimination in the workplace, adoption rights, and ending the military's
"don't ask, don't tell" policy "in a way that strengthens our Armed Forces
and our national security."

Presidential pandering
Pro-family activist says Peter LaBarbera it is sad, but not surprising, that
President Obama has chosen to issue a proclamation celebrating
homosexuality. The president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality
<http://americansfortruth.com/> says Obama is pandering to homosexual
political activists.

"Homosexuality is nothing to be proud of -- bottom line," says LaBarbera.
"The fact is people have left the lifestyle, people have overcome
homosexuality [with God's help] -- I think that's something to be proud
of...."

LaBarbera warns of the repercussions of the president's pursuit of expanded
rights for those who are confused about their sexual orientation.

"This proclamation talks about the entire radical homosexual agenda that
Obama supports -- including homosexualizing the U.S. military [and] federal
so-called 'rights' based on homosexuality, which will impinge on the
religious freedoms and freedom of conscience of other Americans."

Christians, he believes, must reach out to homosexuals with the message of
the gospel.

Taking an "in your face" approach, PepsiCo sent a public message of support for the homosexual agenda. The company ran a full-page ad in the June/July issue of Out, a semi-pornographic homosexual magazine. The magazine is filled with page after page of nude and semi-nude photographs of men in suggestive positions.

AFA has asked PepsiCo to be neutral in the culture war, including homosexual marriage, but the company has consistently refused to do so. The ad supporting Out was a clear indication that the company is standing fast in its support of the homosexual agenda.

Consider these actions:

· PepsiCo is a member of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. (Ford, McDonald’s and Wal-Mart withdrew from the NGLCC when asked to do so. PepsiCo refused)

· PepsiCo requires its members to attend diversity training classes promoting the acceptance of homosexuality.

· PepsiCo financially supports "gay pride parades" in cities across America.

· PepsiCo gave a total of $1,000,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). HRC gave hundreds of thousands of dollars in an effort to legalize homosexual marriage in California.

· PepsiCo uses its TV commercials to promote the homosexual lifestyle.

· Call PepsiCo's Board of Directors Concern Line at 1-866-626-0633 and tell the board of directors that you are boycotting PepsiCo and asking others to do the same. If there is no answer or you get a recording, stay on the line until a live operator comes on.

The controversy swirling around Speaker Pelosi isn't political -- SHE may think it is, other liberal Democrats may think it is, and the media may want it to appear that way...

But as I wrote this week in Human Events, this isn't about politics. It's about national security.

At issue is whether Speaker Pelosi was informed, at a briefing by intelligence officers on September 4, 2002 when she was the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, that the CIA had used and was using enhanced interrogation techniques -- specifically "waterboarding" -- on captured al Qaeda terrorists.

Prior to her now infamous press conference last week, Speaker Pelosi insisted that the CIA had not told her in 2002 that waterboarding and other enhanced techniques were being used. At last week's press conference she went beyond this position to assert, "the only mention of waterboarding at [the September 2002] briefing was that it was not being employed."

In contrast, Leon Panetta, the current CIA director, wrote a memo last Friday to CIA employees in which he stated, "our contemporaneous records from September 2002 indicate that CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of [Al Qaeda terrorist] Abu Zubaydah, describing 'the enhanced techniques that had been employed.'"

And so the question, prior to her rambling press conference, was one of memory: Did Speaker Pelosi remember correctly the briefing she received in 2002?

If she had confined the controversy to her memory versus the CIA's, Speaker Pelosi may have saved herself. She would be guilty of irresponsibility and incompetence perhaps, but that would basically be it. Not good, but not disqualifying.

But Speaker Pelosi did not confine the question to the reliability of memory. Instead, she made the allegation last week that the CIA intentionally misled her -- misled Congress -- and not just once, but routinely.

"They mislead us all the time," she said.

She charged that the CIA, deliberately and as a matter of policy, violated the law by lying to Congress.

And with that allegation, Speaker Pelosi disqualified herself from the office she holds.

And the question that remains is why? Why would Speaker Pelosi escalate the small skirmish she found herself in over the 2002 briefing into a full-scale war with the CIA?

Perhaps it's because if America knew that Speaker Pelosi consented to waterboarding, fully informed and without complaint, back in 2002, it would reveal the current liberal bloodlust over interrogations for what it is: The Left's attempt to hunt down and purge its political opponents.

Remember what America was like in September 2002, less than a year after 9/11?

America was terrified. As I said on ABC Radio last week, our entire defense, intelligence and justice establishment expected that there would be additional al Qaeda attacks, we just didn't know where and we didn't know when.

If Nancy Pelosi believed that waterboarding was justified in 2002 -- just like Porter Goss, President Bush, Vice President Cheney and CIA Director Tenet believed! -- then a policy of selectively using enhanced interrogation techniques in carefully circumscribed ways in order to prevent future attacks (in other words, the Bush Administration policy) is vindicated.

But rather than admit that President Bush, when faced with an array of difficult choices, made the hard choice that kept the nation safe, Nancy Pelosi has instead retreated into the cheap sanctity of "ignorance". She didn't know... so she claims. THAT'S why she didn't do anything about it.

But President Bush did know. It was his job to know, and he made the tough choices needed to save American lives.

It was Nancy Pelosi's job to know too. But to avoid culpability for the choices she supported, she's now telling us she didn't know. And she's calling the intelligence officials who say otherwise liars and criminals.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein recently said "I will pick the time, and will pick the place and I will bring back the Clinton gun ban... And she said President Obama will sign it."

The Speaker of the House - Nancy Pelosi - fully admitted her gun registration plan in addition to the Feinstein gun ban, in an admission wrapped around outright untruths about the Second Amendment and our freedom.

Pelosi says of her upcoming congressional agenda: "We want them (guns) registered."

Representative Jackson Lee (D) TX railed, "How many officers have to be killed before we impose more gun regulation?" Without any data to support the claim.

They can't deny it. And they can't deny the determination and might of America's lawful gun owners, who don't want their names in some national government database, just waiting to be abused by Second Amendment-hating bureaucrats.

PepsiCo sponsors the 2009 New York City Gay Pride Parade

Dear Marsha,

Desiring to take a high visibility position in the promotion of the homosexual agenda, including same-sex marriage, PepsiCo has agreed to sponsor the New York Gay Pride Parade June 27. AFA has asked PepsiCo to be neutral in the culture war regarding the homosexual agenda and the legalization of homosexual marriage, but PepsiCo has adamantly refused to do so.

PepsiCo has given homosexual groups more than a million dollars in the last two years. It has refused to give one penny to organizations such as Parents and Friends of Ex-Gay and Gays (PFOX) that work to help individuals change their sexual behavior.

In addition to sponsoring the New York Gay Pride Parade, PepsiCo’s shareholders recently voted down a shareholder proposal seeking to make public how much money Pepsi is giving to homosexual groups. All total, 75 million individual shares voted to make Pepsi justify their donations to activist homosexual groups.

Saving Motherhood

This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day in the United States. If you are a mother, we thank you and salute you for the invaluable work you do in fulfilling that vital role in the life of your children, and the heritage of our nation!

Sadly, the United Nations would hold such a sentiment to be discriminatory against women. In 2000, the United Nations CEDAW Committee (named for the Convention to End All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, or CEDAW) criticized the nation of Belarus for “the reintroduction of such [sex-role stereotype] symbols as a Mother’s Day and a Mothers’ Award, which it sees as encouraging women’s traditional roles.” [See paragraph 361 on page 37 of the UN document here.]

For our part, ParentalRights.org is proud to encourage women in the role of mother, as we are proud of loving fathers for the part they play. The fact is, the role of parents in directing the upbringing and education of their children is a precious and fundamental right. It should not be looked down on, nor stolen, by international governing bodies such as the CEDAW Committee, nor the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), like CEDAW, is an international treaty attempting to dictate domestic policy. Like CEDAW, it has set up a panel of UN “experts” to “advise” nations who are not in compliance with the treaty, setting international law policy which activist judges then incorporate into national law.

Unlike CEDAW, however, the UNCRC does not oppose Mother’s Day. Rather, it constitutes an attack on Motherhood itself, replacing fundamental parental rights with bureaucratic oversight at a federal and international level. Perhaps if we ratified both treaties we could just replace Mother’s Day with Social Worker’s Day, and the UN would be pleased.

The only permanent solution to prevent U.S. ratification of the UNCRC is the Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which includes the provision that “No treaty may be adopted nor shall any source of international law be employed to supersede, modify, interpret, or apply to [fundamental parental rights].” This would finally end the threat of UNCRC ratification in the United States. While that alone may not preserve Mother’s Day, it can at least save Motherhood from international interference.

President Obama has overseen the most intense 100 days of political attacks

With last Friday’s stunning Iowa Supreme Court ruling declaring marriage between one man and one woman unconstitutional, the Hawkeye State suddenly moved to the epicenter of the intensifying legal,

political and cultural struggle for the heart and soul of our nation.

The ramifications of this act of pure judicial activism are far-reaching. Just as disturbing is the behind-the-scenes story of how Iowa was targeted by wealthy out-of-state homosexual activists.

Yesterday, I joined Focus Action’s Stuart Shepard for a special “Focus Action Update” on the marriage crisis in Iowa. I am asking every member of our Focus Action team to watch this special report because you must understand how homosexual activists are targeting states like Iowa. Go here to access this report.

Homosexual Activists’ Plans Unfolding Quickly
For decades, homosexual activists have been strategizing on how to undermine and ultimately destroy marriage. Now, that plan is unfolding rapidly. Earlier this week, Vermont became the first state to use the legislative process to redefine marriage. Also, the Washington, D.C., City Council voted to recognize same-sex marriages originating in the states where it is legal.

But even in Iowa, hope is not lost – the state House will vote today on the Iowa Marriage Amendment, the first of many legislative votes necessary to send the marriage-protection amendment to the ballot, where the people could reverse the court's ruling.

Meanwhile, President Obama continued his direct assault on traditional marriage by appointing radical homosexual activist Harry Knox to his Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Knox, a leader with the far-left Human Rights Campaign, called the Pope a “discredited” leader for opposing homosexual marriage. Upon his appointment, Knox released a statement saying he would work with President Obama to ensure that “government has no place in funding bigotry” (i.e., Christian-based efforts).

Obama’s Faith-Based Mockery
Quite frankly, President Obama is making a mockery of the faith-based program launched by President Bush, which was designed to reverse the liberal agenda of purging faith from our public lives. But don’t be discouraged. As the Apostle Paul said:

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” (Galatians 6:7-8, NIV)

That passage continues with these very poignant words: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Especially this week, as we remember the death, burial and ultimate triumph of Jesus on Easter morning, let us recommit ourselves to standing for God’s truth no matter how difficult the circumstances may be. Yes, at times the days seem dark, but Sunday is coming.

Why is religion taboo in American schools? Christian attorney John Whitehead addresses that question.

"God has become THE four-letter word in most public schools in the United States," says Whitehead, founder of The Rutherford Institute. And he explains in a commentary why that has come to pass: "An elite segment of society that views God as irrelevant has come to predominate." (View video commentary)

Whitehead gained his legal insights into the phenomenon through the many cases of religious discrimination that have crossed his desk.

"What's happened is [that] the elitists -- the people who run American society, from the public education system to certain governmental institutions and figures -- have basically decided that God is irrelevant to public discussion," says Whitehead during an interview with OneNewsNow.

"...This ignores the 120 million-plus people in America who take their religion seriously, [who] practice it, and who pay taxes to support institutions like the public schools."

And what that does, adds Whitehead, is force those people -- along with their religious rights and their free-speech rights -- into "utter subservience" to all other beliefs.

The issue, according to the attorney, is not separation of church and state -- an argument frequently cited by those who assume the secular viewpoint. "The issue in such instances is the religious believer versus the secular state," he writes. "It is also a denial of everything this country stands for in terms of the freedoms of speech, religion, and a respect for moral tradition."

Whitehead believes that what exists now in America is akin to the old Soviet Union and China, where it is religious believers fending off the state.

In recent years, Congress has attached special annual funding provisions called pro-life “riders” to the spending bills to ensure that taxpayers aren’t forced to fund abortions here and overseas. Well, a move is underway to strip those “riders” from the spending bills and all this could happen in the next few weeks.

Focus on the Family Action has just launched a citizen petition to oppose this latest phase in the radical, pro-abortion agenda, as well as the effort to force you and me to pay for it.
